Truly held good in Shivamoga City and District, where in early 70’s, intellectuals and well wishers felt the educational backwardness of the people. This mere concern orchestrated the foundation of the Al Mahmood Educational Trust/ Society in the year 1974. In the nascent years, the stress was laid on Nursery Education which carves the foundation of future education.

As the cause grew and the trust evolved, the College of Education at Shivamoga took its shape. After substantial persuasion, Al Mahmood Trust procured the much awaited permission from Kuvempu University, No Objection Certificate from the replica omega Govt. of Karnataka and approval from the National Council of Teachers’ Education (NCTE), Govt. of India and Final permission from the Govt. of Karnataka vide Order No: ED 44 URC 2006 dated 26th May, 2006.
